Technology and Operations Management

Course Content
This course is designed to help students understand and respond to challenges in managing environmentally friendly production, logistics, supply and demand chains, alongside technological progress in a digital economy. This course discusses the application of innovative technologies, and it offers analytical concepts and practical tools for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Students will learn to handle reliable measurements of greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, deforestation impacts, and various forms of pollution related to operations management. In addition, students are also equipped with resilience concepts and strategies to help organizations cope with environmental disasters.
Learning Objectives
Upon the successful completion of this course, students are expected to:
Understand complex processes underlying environmentally friendly value creation through innovative technologies and efficient operations management
Critically analyze how organizations can gain competitive advantage while being energy efficient
Be able to examine efficient use of information technology and artificial intelligence for reduced carbon footprint in various sectors
Understand elements of environmental sustainability at various steps of complex value chains and integrate them into commendable operations strategies
Apply concepts and tools using real-world data sources to analyze the environmental impacts of technology and operations management
Utilize lifecycle thinking and strategies for green viability and decision-making in operations management
